Advertising and sponsorship policy

The rules any paid relationship on LimbAtlas has to follow. Today there are no sponsored providers and no advertising on the site.

Last updated

Current state

LimbAtlas has no paid placements, no advertising and no paid provider products. No provider listed on LimbAtlas is sponsored, and no provider has paid to be listed or to change how it is described.

The product does support a Sponsored label, so that the rules below are built in before any paid relationship could exist.

Sponsorship is always labelled

If a provider has a sponsored placement, it carries a visible Sponsored label on its directory card, its profile and in comparisons, in a colour reserved for sponsorship and used for nothing else. The profile also explains what the label means. Sponsorship is never disclosed only in small print.

What payment can never buy

  • Verification. Providers cannot pay to become verified, and sponsorship never changes a verification status in either direction — see the verification methodology.
  • A better rating. LimbAtlas does not rate or rank providers, so there is no score to improve.
  • Changes to the facts. Sponsorship does not change what a profile says, add claims the sources do not support, or remove incomplete, uncertain or unfavourable information.
  • Editorial content. Guides and method and device pages are written independently. They do not mention or favour sponsors, and sponsors do not review or approve them.
  • Hidden ordering. Sponsorship does not move a provider up the default directory order, search results or comparisons — see how provider ordering works.

Key point

A sponsored provider is never presented as better, safer or more recommended than a provider that is not sponsored.

If LimbAtlas introduces paid features

Sponsored listings, clearly labelled advertising placements and optional products for providers are possibilities for the future. If LimbAtlas introduces any of them:

  • every paid placement will be visibly labelled as sponsored or advertising;
  • a placement that changes where a provider appears will be a separate, labelled slot, never a hidden boost within ordinary results;
  • the rules on this page — no paid verification, no paid changes to facts, independent editorial content — will continue to apply;
  • this page will be updated before the feature goes live.
