Provider ordering
How provider ordering works
LimbAtlas does not rank providers by quality. This page explains, plainly, how the provider directory is ordered by default and what the available sort options actually do.

No quality ranking
LimbAtlas does not publish quality rankings, star ratings, or “best provider” scores, and does not order providers by implied clinical superiority. Comparisons on the platform are structural — provider type, care model, services offered, location, languages — not outcome rankings.
Default directory order
The default listing (labelled “Default order” in the sort control) shows published provider profiles in the order they exist in LimbAtlas's provider data. This is not the output of a ranking algorithm, and it is not weighted by verification status or sponsorship — it is simply the current listing order of published profiles.
Key point
User-controlled sorting
You can change the order using the sort control above the results list:
- Default order — the default listing order described above.
- Recently reviewed — orders providers by the date their profile was last reviewed against its sources, most recent first.
- Provider name — alphabetical by official provider name.
None of these options reflect a clinical or quality judgment.
Sponsored placement
LimbAtlas's provider data model supports a separate Sponsored designation, tracked independently of provider ordering. No provider currently published on LimbAtlas is marked Sponsored, and there is no live paid placement program today — current ordering does not take sponsored status into account in any case.
If sponsored placements are introduced in the future, they will remain clearly labelled and structurally separate from verification and other editorial facts, and will never imply quality, safety, a recommendation, or verification status. See advertising disclosure for more on what the Sponsored designation does and does not mean.
Verification is separate
Being verified, partially verified, or unverified also has no effect on ordering. Verification and sponsorship are both shown as distinct badges next to a provider, never merged into a single score, and neither one determines where a provider appears in the list. See editorial policy for how verification is determined.
Search, comparisons and other lists
- Site search orders results only by how closely they match what you type — an exact name first, then names that start with or contain your words — and alphabetically where matches are equally close. Search knows nothing about verification or sponsorship.
- Compare shows providers in the order you added them.
- Provider lists on country, method and device pages are alphabetical.
- “Related providers” on a profile are those sharing the most structural facts with it — country, provider type and care model — then alphabetical. Similarity is not a recommendation.
What ordering does not mean
- Position in the list is not a quality or safety judgment.
- A higher position does not mean a provider is recommended over another.
- The number of providers currently listed does not imply anything about the completeness or quality of the global market.
